Formalin treatments before eyeing and hand-picking of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) eggs - re-evaluating the timing of antifungal treatments ########################################## Data ########################################## Eggs of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) were incubated in the hatchery of Telemarkrøye AS in Fyresdal from October 2017 to January 2019. The eggs were treated for fungal infections using formalin and hand-picking. One group was treated with 380 ppm formalin three times weekly before the eyed stage, and then left unpicked. The second group was not treated by formalin before the eyed stage, but hand-picked once weekly during the eyed stage. The third group was treated with formalin before the eyed stage, and hand-picked during the eyed stage. One control group was left untreated. Weekly recordings of the number of dead eggs, hatched eggs, and presence of fungal infections were taken during the eyed stage in all hand-picked plots. The total number of dead eggs and hatched larvae were recorded in unpicked plots at the end of the experiment. ########################################## Files ########################################## Data.csv - contains the data recorded during the experiment FigureS1.tiff - contains a model illustration for fungal infection risk FigureS2.tiff - contains a model illustration for fungal infection risk FigureS3.tiff - contains a model illustration for fungal infection risk FigureS4.tiff - contains a model illustration for fungal infection risk Table1.xlsx - contains recordings of the water chemistry in the hatchery autumn 2017 Table2.xlsx - contains an overview over the proportions of hatched eggs in the treatment groups TableS1.xlsx - contains daily temperature measurements Supplement1-ModelIllustrations.docx - contains descriptions of the model illustrations for fungal infection risk Supplement2-ModelCode.docx - contains the software code for all statistics in R Supplement3-temperature.docx - contains a description of the temperature data Supplement4-FungalInfectionRisk.docx - contains a description and discussion of the models on fungal infection risk Figure1.jpg - contains a picture of the grid of experimental plots Figure2.jpg - contains a picture of hatched larvae in the hatching substrate Figure3.jpg - contains a picture of the experiment showing fungal infections in the plots Figure4.tiff - contains histograms of the proportions of hatched larvae for all four experimental groups ########################################## Contact information ########################################## Tom Robin Olk Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences PhD candidates, Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences Tel: +47 35 95 25 06 tom.robin.olk@usn.no
